Portimao WorldSSP300 Report
My world championship debut at Portimao World SBK round, was beyond words to describe, after a tough start and with a minimum of track time, working a new team, to learn the bike and track, I finished my weekend with something I didn’t expect.
The Terra&Moto team and I had problems and challenges to overcome in each of the sessions but we knew it was important to stay focused and improve, after the fifthteen minute qualifying I was in grid spot 26. Before the race I had been thinking a lot on how to get past all the riders in front of me and after half a lap it worked and I was fighting with the World championship regulars including the championship leader. I finished the race in P13 and had the pace to stay with the top group but lost touch due to qualifying so far down the field.
I’m very happy because we worked well and were competed well at a technical circuit with no testing and very little track time. I have learnt a lot from this weekend and I would like to thank the terra e moto team and everyone who supports and contributes to make these opportunities happen. I’m looking forward to come back and fight, but for now I’m focusing on round five of the CIV Italian speed championship, at Mugello next week.
Thanks for your support, it means a lot!
